Three Poets: Donahue, Damon, Melehy

May 19, 2017, 7:00pm - May 19, 2017, 8:00pm

JOSEPH DONAHUE has been an important voice in American poetry for several decades. His most recent volumes are "Red Flash in a Black Field" (Black Square, 2014), and "Dark Church" (Verge, 2015). He teaches English literature and creative writing at Duke University. MARIA DAMON is professor of Humanities and Media Studies at the Pratt Institute of Art. She has written a few scholarly books about modern and contemporary poetry in the US, and co-written some books of poetry, including a few volumes that had their first lives online. HASSAN MELEHY teaches French and comparative literature at the University of North Carolina. His first poetry collection, "A Modest Apocalypse," was just published by Eyewear. He also writes literary criticism, most recently "Kerouac: Language, Poetics, and Territory" (Bloomsbury, 2016).

not content with that but satisfied that we are doing what we
want to do which stands like a screw in the shoe of anybody holding
a place in the dominant culture
