“...the door on the edge/

of it here...”

John Manning is one of the great postwar painters. His work can be found at www.johnmanningarchive.org. Paul Pines' essay captures the fragility of careers in fine arts, including John's.

We featured David Bromige's work in GH 11 -- a selection and an astute essay on it by Meredith Quartermain.

And Robin Blaser's work has appeared here often, including an interview with him in GH 9.

Dacia Maraini's stories mark the beginning of an Italian series guest-edited by Mark Axelrod, who has done such a fine job bringing South American work to these pages.

It is an amazing privilege to work with such wonderful and original writers and artists – a serious project we hope to continue.

We have the resources, perhaps, for 2 more issues beyond this.

We hope to continue. It amazes us how many readers praise us, but neglect to subscribe at $20.
